Bruce Lee's Teacher Yip Man Performing Wing Chun 1972

Rare footage of Grandmaster Yip Man (aka Ip Man) practicing Wing Chun in 1972. This was shot not very long before his death. A very weak Yip Man, knowing he was dying, allowed this footage to be shot in order to preserve the art of Wing Chun for future generations.

Chinese New Year! February 14th 2010

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2010 is the Year of the Golden Tiger, which begins on February 14, 2010 and ends on February 2, 2011.  On New Year's day itself, it is beneficial to celebrate, to be happy, to have smiling faces, and to refrain from scowling, quarreling, or criticizing anyone. The Tiger is the third sign in the cycle of Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 animal signs.  It is a sign of courage; this fearless and fiery fighter is revered by the ancient Chinese as the sign that wards off the three main disasters of a household: fire, thieves, and ghosts.

It is also the tradition that every family thoroughly cleans the house to sweep away any ill-fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck. The Chinese New Year tradition is a great way to reconcile forgetting all grudges, and sincerely wish peace and happiness for everyone.

Yip Man Wing Chun Kung Fu

The Yip Man Wing Chun system is self defense in its most efficient and consistent form. Your own physical strength or prior abilities need not be the decisive factor in a threatening situation.

The young or physically weak are always the first targets of aggressors. However, ANY person without major physical disabilities can gain self confidence and a level of fitness which will increase their self defense abilities by 500%.

Wing Chun training will teach you to use the attacker's force against them, i.e. to ‘borrow’ the energy of the attacker, ‘charging up’ one’s own body and then effortlessly redirecting the energy back against its source. The Wing Chun system is one of the very few self defense systems that prepare you for every phase of a fight, using feet, fists, elbows and knees. Instead of retreating, a Wing Chun student will advance and glue themselves to their assailant, rendering them unable to continue their attack. This proximity, combined with well-defined movements, will force the attacker into a helpless position.

"I am proud to be able to bring the Yip Man system of Wing Chun to Orange County. I've dedicated my life to this amazing art and love sharing its many benefits with my students." ~Sifu Adam
