True insanity at its most developed level, here is my Sigung, Karl Godwin, demonstrating the traditional Wing Chun mook jong (wooden dummy) form....

TO THE BEAT OF A METRONOME...
AT 120 BPS...
SMOOTH AND EFFORTLESS!!!
As far as the metronome goes, it is easy at first to look at training with it as negative to fluidity. However, you'll find that when practicing with it it actually makes your transitions more fluid.
Although you shouldn't always be practiced with the metronome. Adding it to our training regiment has really improved timing for us. As the dummy offers the best solo training you can ask for, the ability to improve timing during solo training is a huge leap for a Wing Chun student's progressive development. Start as slow as possible with the metronome to get each position on the beat and as structurally correct as possible. Then work your way up to faster. It is important not to go too fast at first as you'll just be sacrificing position and structure.
As more and more, Wing Chun students begin to introduce this type of modern training methods into their regiment, I predict we will see an increase in the overall abilities of Wing Chun practitioners worldwide.
